True. As we slide into further fubar in today's world of distro and supply issues along with a mantra chorus of impending recession talk, including huge US corporations who in typical January style are laying off , or threatening to layoff thousands of staff with the holidays in the rear view mirror accompanied with the usual perennial excuses. Sure, easily a 50-50 chance if not already here. Kudos to Mom she has my vote and knew what she was doing.

To belabor the point, true story: My mother had a depression story, where she and her siblings were shuttled out to some Autie's farm for the depression summers. Auntie had a few tricks up her sleeve, once all the kids had an ice-cream social. Autie carefully scooped out a nice looking round scoop of ice-cream for every kid, or so the kids blindly thought. Really those scoops were mostly hollow or air-filled scoops, but hey, the kids were no doubt fooled in their excitement.

Keep this in mind for the coming years of not so plenty, times, kind of like the accelerated grocery store classic packaging phenomena game, where everything looks the same but don't take the time to read the weight in oz.
