This relatively young culture in the America's maybe doesn't possess more entrenched cultural behaviors like many of our European countries that made a huge chunk of our population. It's like in America we somehow had to invent problems to say we had culture to wring our hands over. I'm sure that migrating from the cities to the suburbs also created a lot of problems that really didn't need to exist. For example do I really know that much about my neighbors than those who live in more inner city neighborhoods? It's really a faux issue this pink-blue no doubt supported by the toy and clothing industries. It may be good for business, who knows?
Maybe just send you pre-schoolers to school when the time comes in purple or violet colors, which is near a mix of pink and blue. See what happens, maybe a whole new fad!
