The constraints of space-time pinch off much of any hope regarding visiting any kind of E.T. sentient beings organic or inorganic, even as nearby as 10 light-years or so. We probably have to be many times smarter to figure out communication with anyone besides ourselves.

For the time being the biggest stumbling block to future advancement is closer to home, like ourselves.
