Yeah, being an expat the worldview can morph drastically.

One thing for sure, many not in Brazil or the place where your college was, haven't a clue what is going on in other countries, not a clue, including some of the folks you mentioned also seeming to not have a clue outside the districts where they may have lived most of their lives.
