Sure the place looks like a real fixer-upper, big time. I’ve lived in a house smaller but much like the one in the pic, and it’s not all a picnic, all the heating bills and heater have to be check, all the wood has to be check for any rot, etc., are you a decent carpenter and have a deep tool chest, do you have building skills? Not trying to scare you cause I’m already scared myself looking at the work that probably needs doing if you ever get to view the inside.

Be-careful, please. This kind of house, to get it in resellable shape when it is sold again is going to be a job for the younger set with a lot of energy and a DIY skill set, cause when/if you go out shopping for contractors, if you can find them, even to get affordable working estimates is task of scarcity nowadays not to mention the real cost of contracting out. I have never seen the house ever other than the one pic, but I’d wager to get this puppy up to code and solidly weatherproofed and ready for resale if that day comes, I’m guessing $75, Grand, easy, using good contractors.

I remember living in a house built in the 1890s with a really nice stonework foundation (thick! redstone foundation, 1 1/2 inch thick limestone(?) sheetrock wall with an airgap from the redstone, with an additional cinder block inside those basement walls), unfinished basement, walk-in closets, clawfoot tub, steam heat radiators, walk-in pantry, beautiful porch, 3 huge bedrooms upstairs, French doors, some decorative leaded glass, doors that slid into the walls separating the dining area, the whole fricking turn of the century wax ball. The place was cheap and we made about $3 G’s on sale. We lived there just over 2 years, converted the oil to a modern gas furnace, painted the whole house among other minor improvements. I guess it was a time of growing real estate market for that area. We were also in our twenties at the time. I’m 68 now and have a birthday in 2 days, dam I’m getting old!
