Startup conundrum # nnnnnn, in search of a living. It appears the survival strategy is a numbers game. If Medium can afford the cost of major growth, maybe then it will look more like a writer's journal of diverse reading interests.
My guess, sometime in 2020 the subscription costs will probably go up, maybe there are other non-ad ways to add to revenues, but the subscription cost is the most likely source of new revenue. Anyway, I thought anything can happen in an election year?
Hope Medium and most of the writers don’t originate in California, I think the new worker protection act starts in 2020, a law to protect contractors and general gig-economy workers regarding bennies, pay, and classic employment status (plus state tax revenue too). Managing a big democracy is a lot like fixing old program code, fix 1 problem and create 3–4 more error-problems.
