"(Spoiler alert: It’s a terrible deal.)"
As in bait and switch!
I live in a bigger university town and the local media is in lockstep with their advertisers regarding the fall semester. This includes K4-12. Videos with voiceovers that show how C-19 will be handled, yet nary a detail revealed as to how these nice narratives are implemented, or where this extra magical budget is coming from. Many education orgs have published scenarios for the fall, but not backed by any reality.
There are no details or finalized decisions regarding what changes could drop at any time this fall.
Online education is really in its infancy with little to no data on how successful online education is for the newer masses online at this time. It's like an unknown metric for so many online all at once. Saying it’s an immediate solution (yes, possibly available) is misleading until more semesters are accessed.
As a side note, if people thought the cost of living increases (especially any taxes & fees in anywhere USA) was high in 2020, wait till all the pre-election rosy promises (aka bull shit) have been forgotten and 2021 roll$ around. Major OUCH!
