Quite the organized rat race, isn’t it?

Now I’m retired looking back, the economic model attributes of the past remain and that model tries to cling onto that past.

US biz model attributes:

8 hr. shifts

3 - 8 hr. shifts per day

Goals:

i. more product & service production.

ii. more i above.

iii. more i & ii above via cost cutting and productivity increases.

That’s pretty much the labor operational program loop for our economic model. (until bots embed further into the operations?) Planned regulation is always discouraged whenever possible in our capitalist economy.

——————

As an example industry we have the fossil fuel industry (FFI), with which most citizens actively participate.

FFI products & services shun regulation whenever possible, while producing, it’s basically a one use production model. From plastic bottles to energy fuels, we all participate in this collateral damage to the climate/environment with these throw away product lines. The part of the transportation infrastructure that is the surface road, rail, barge and airport geometry wipes out a lot of usable space for other activities but is somewhat reusable with maintenance. The list goes on.

In short, the FFI and its one way throw away characteristic with NO responsibility in the after sale market is a signature attribute of our capitalist economic model. There are many other industries with this kind of production character that we all support. These industries buy lots of government lawmakers insuring the model, from energy waste to medical and more. Since we are an empire let’s not forget the colossal tax revenue investment obtaining materials for production in the military budgets. That’s a thing. By and large we all participate. The military, insuring cheap everything to feed the empire from all over the planet.

You are correct, changing the rat race picture requires citizens to change their behaviors.? We are not necessarily in a position to demand change without severe sacrifice, but only the fullness of time will tell if we survive as citizens vote, and also with their feet.
