Most haven't a clue about the infrastructure they are dependent on, rather they get all worked up on issues of no import for everyone's survival.

It's bleak for sure, for all the wealth in this country there is no excuse not having a national health service. Of course the reason for this has less to do with concern of the nation's health and a lot to do with profit. Allowing health services to become a for-profit enterprise some 40-50 years ago, instead of the utility it should be, when this was allowed it help immensely to seal our future doom.
