OMG… First, thanks to Nick for doing some real journalist backhaul work on this story. Just informed me you’ve got writer/research cred I didn’t even know about!

On the above, most readers like myself probably don’t understand how an inside baseball publishing issue such as this one could be set to “blow from minute one”. I’m going to guess that the contemporary Pegasus mindset is still somewhat entrenched in an older business model that is not a match for today’s version of online publish or perish for pennies, LOTS OF PENNIES! as if each and every post was a virtual lottery ticket to some/any viral jackpot payback. That is a contemporary publishing system doesn’t seem to exist to separate fact from fabricated imaginations. (a bit over the top but okay, ending that rant)

Other tin foil hat speculations: Other Pegasus competitors provided the spark of controversy and have plans for the same market, that is: good old fashion capitalism, anything is fair in business and backstabbing. (yep, that’s over the top too, I must be exposing myself to too much internet copy! Why WTF ever happened to good old fashioned cooperation?)

Note: I have the current luxury of being retired and not on any social networks that I know of (I guess Medium’s comment streams are a kind of so-so social) where it’s harder to get sucked into viral typhoons unless by choice. I’ll take this moment to add a memorial whimper for G+’s demise. Sob. :-|<couldn’t find puddle emoji here>
