Like so many Malthusian fruit flies in a jar the human race also vastly out populates earth available living space. Just about any well-placed shock event could really put a huge dent in modern existence. The dominos can fall fast. I think this is realistic, not fatalistic. I mean people can argue that the pandemic is only killing a tiny fraction of the 7 billion or so humans on the planet, however, look what changes are also happening apparently due to the pandemic alone.
So a really bad solar flare might whipe out vast installations of electronic infrastructure. Also yes, climate change effects. A badass meteorite, or, a supervolcano. The possibilities are somewhat endless with human populations so high and the interconnectedness of modern infrastructure. So 1920s or 2020s it's as if there is an unknowable probability of events that can trigger a domino of disasters.
But you all have a nice rest of your day. Probably nothing will happen, I think.
