It's why here in the USA by and large we don't need road maps for most small cities and towns, the core of the old city/town (not always, but) has usually gone dead, abandoned, or run down with antique malls. All the plastic fast food drive throughs plus cookie cutter box stores are on the way into or out of town. Hence who needs a map, we already know exactly how America is put together.

Ex #2: When we go to medical providers in the US, we need more information than a name & address to get into the provider's business. They want to know exactly how you will pay your possible medical bill. Exactly, how.

Of course, the list of inequities regarding the quality of life goes on.
