It seems from reading the threads on this article that a factual history has not been presented to the mainstream, I could say a whitewash of history lessons in our schools. It seems we don’t know our own history or in our case real history has been omitted in the education system thus allowing nostalgic views and simplistic narratives to get rooted.

Without real history then at some point, we pretend that the founding fathers were not landowners in competition with colonial overlords, we never legally sanctioned genocide of native Americans to further acquire land resources, that our revolutionary war with euro colonials was more complex as in the first civil war including attempts to free slaves among other missing USA history lessons. Of course, the missing history lesson list is longer. Therefore people can’t see any classism, racism, genocide, sexism in the gender inequalities. We might as well be living in an unreal matrix, like the movie.
