I’m sure it’s very unnerving having to wonder what is going on regarding any income Medium.com provides. Every 6 months to a year some kind of reorg magically happens.

In less than twenty years the economy seems to have gone from an employment economy to most everyone is some kind of contractor no matter how the employment definition is fashioned.

We hear statistics from .gov about employment, unemployment, CPI, GNP, etc. yet all this data in no way encourages people looking to the future. Especially in a country where healthcare is a profit industry and nothing like a national health plan system as in other western democracies. No wonder so much of the workforce thinks they are treated like interchangeable parts, I mean it’s called H.R. right?

Writers certainly wonder where the future of Medium is headed. What is this sudden monthly bonus situation all about? I don’t know but I suspect it has to be an entwined financial reason.

In the content aggregators space, like the Medium blog, creators of much media, writing, video, podcasts, or anything created by some legacy house or individual shingle are apparently being sought out by Medium, substack, the mega-tech corporations with their huge subscription portals. E-V-E-R-Y-O-N-E seems to be scrambling to control content via the subscription model. So far for those working in this economy, it looks like a race to the bottom.

Try to hang in there.
