If people could get out more and tool around the countryside, they might notice endless wind farms even in the biggest fossil fuel states, even as some of those states continue to be hell bent on pushing out fossil fuels until we all choke.
Also, lots of solar installations out in the southwestern US. The sooner more renewable farms get built the sooner a price tipping point will be seen as inevitable to the masses.
Whether power generation will continue as highly centralized with long line transmissions, likely, or many local smaller producers remains to be realized.
