If all we ever knew was fire and fossil fuels we would never think of renewables.

If all we ever knew was the economics labeled capitalism, the socialism labels would not even be a thought.

If all we ever ate was rice, potatoes could probably be an anathema.

If we live in prison our whole lives we end up loving our jailer.

And so on in any human culture's history.

Our recognizable culture here on North America has been around for 2-3 centuries and early on somebody thunk up a thought tagged as manifest destiny, and Bob's your uncle.
