I think you are right about the wait and see factor. Waiting for some decent affordable EVs since the average 4 wheeler device doesn’t have to be a fancy fast plaid-speed high-end market device. When that market gets saturated, then possibly realistic EVs with enhanced battery tech for the rest of us might become available.
In time, the old days of massive adoption of our road transportation model should become more unsustainable, IMO. Even with vehicles that are cheaper to maintain and possibly 1/10 the installed parts, especially moving parts.
For most citizens the old make-it-up-in-volume in our production systems will have to rule since most don’t want to mortgage their transportation.
The industry is still blindly trying to live off testosterone marketing, but as the dollars become weaker or more scarce that market will eventually go limp.
