I think this 'inflation' is more unregulated capitalism. Congress can't seem to make a law defining allowable gouging behaviors (as in none?). The exception being state jurisdictions regarding price gouging during climate destructive events like hurricanes and rain-flooding events.
Prices seem to go up with expediency (like: hey! here's our excuse! As if people didn't exist, just spreadsheets), the more realistic market price, if any, creeps back at a slower pace. Funny how that happens.
