I think deniers of nations leveraging renewables feel threatened because they either know or believe that a change over in power generation methods with much lower cost and maintenance will somehow affect personal finances. There's is somehow somewhere an existing revenue stream involved in these opinions, or some not thought out irrational fear.

But those adamantly yammaring against changes to our energy infrastructure model do indeed have a vested interest. If not that, then the renewable power model dissenters are very much like many power broker wannabees and will use any explanation to achieve that goal no matter the collateral damage to the population. This comes to mind. Opposing vaccinations that are known to be the best weapon currently freely available to stop a pandemic. Or, never let science get in the way of a power grab or power maintenance, (Texas, Florida, elsewhere USA ?).
