.gov is signaling they want to shorten big tech's leash for a couple of years now. Of course, the EU is actually throwing a spanner at uber big US tech companies. (I also think they want a piece of the action)

Whether our .gov will turn the screws on big tech is still a wait-and-see on legislation. Many in Congress might fear showing up in some strange tweets that don't enhance their chances of getting reelected.

Then again as we toss the baby out with the bathwater, we certainly do not want to fashion some new internet to be anything remotely like the Chinese social graph, and mobile mind control.
