Everyone in America's version of rampant capitalism small or even big 'B' capitalism is trapped by our so-called working definition brand of capitalism. Boils down to about 2-3 words: more, growth, etc. by any means necessary, it's in the capital kool-aid. That's not an excuse for playing robber barons, no but it's social and economical motivation.
There are examples of differently enabled wealth distribution by big B'airs, like Bezos's ex, MacKenzie Scott, expertly distributed wealth this fall during a time of need. The Bill & Melinda Gates foundation has made a science of intelligent wealth distribution, of course depending on one's POV.
So still this is in no way a vindication or explaination of our economic systems relentless gravity. There must be some shift in our economic model that really puts family values above our economic system of capitalism. Sooner than later. Our system does not service the population well, but obviously rewards 'more is better' across the whole economic spectrum.
