Earlier after the invasion, the sanctions were getting applied as one tool in this war and many higher-ups were voicing out, ‘Oh, we don’t want to hurt the Russian people, just Putin’, etc. However, if a huge chunk of the Russian population believes all the noise Putin’s severely limited captured media has troweled out over the years, then how will the Russian public ever figure out how crazy crooked their fearless leader is? I mean many look up to this person. Yes, unfortunate however, the sanctions in reality must be directed at the whole population, not just the several thousand rich civilians & military in Putin’s internal mob who apparently don’t give a thought to anyone but themselves, and probably won’t say a thing about all the invasive murdering and genocide going on for Putin’s latest conquest for personal gain.

Even in modern times with modern communications and information, it’s hard for many nation-states to change or dislodge leadership (for lack of a more non-descript phrase). A coup (aka civil disobedience in a more democratic system) is possible by the military since Putin’s current foray into Eastern Europe is turning out to be a bloody buzzsaw for generals, soldiers, and conscripts who might not have a clue they are exterminating a whole angry nation-state population fighting for their own survival. As many Russian citizens also probably have no clue. Besides the usual phrases like ‘God is on our side’ and ’protect our way of life’, etc. leadership never informs the soldiers what they will really discover and find out the hard way.

Yeah, breadlines are one more tool in this mess that won’t end well and recovery will be years (if any) in the making for Russians, Ukrainians, and yeah, the rest of the world who are currently very busy killing the earth’s population and biosphere by continuing to feed the fossil fuel industry beast. That is, many times, like other clueless populations, we are our own worst enemies.
