Certainly, as times change benefiting from the latest new tech maybe we can be like take what you like/use and ignore the superfluous rest.

I mean I think that in 2 decades or even less what we will see on the street, instead of thousands of people walking around with their handsets, for what purpose(?)(offloading brain functioning?), rather than they/us appearing like a flock of lemmings, some other tech, hopefully, a mesh network will replace our current infatuation with carrying around a plastic slab of electronics even though no doubt this is currently way advanced compared to the early desktops we may have enjoyed in earlier decades. (I do like long extension cords when I travel with more than one plug, but not that long).

I do find the google maps (desktop versions) more useful than mobile unless I happen to be stuck out in the middle of Hooverville USA. But your talk about a paper map and go makes total sense to me. I even had (several over time) especially those oversized travel map books, with vacation guides, and loved it, cause basically if one can read maps all we really need is an address and a good map and done. I missed my road map book version and I found that publishers stopped making most of the travel guide versions available in a decade or so, boiling them down to map versions mostly, adequate but not as fun as a vacation guide built-in. Oh well, sigh, this no doubt like so many industries replaced by our online digital world as we march on into the electronic future. :-)
