Authoritarian & unstable governments do exploit borders for much more than keeping individuals in or out, I think it’s an excuse for magical random extortions. Seems no matter what direction people travel the exchange rate inequities go in whatever the travelers direction happens to be. A real mystery of sorts.

Further, the internet was supposed to be the WWWeb. Is it? Apparently it’s more like the Balkanized web. Firewalls, fickle censorships, access roadblocks, enforced within borders mostly. Pathetic.

I think a recent example of authoritarian & military weak governments is Egypt’s latest magical fines for the recent canal blockage where that government has really pulled some strange numbers out of their backside. Possibly some negotiation will free that ship that we will never know about, but here’s a Suez authority, one of Egypt’s main cash cows pretty much holding an international cargo ship for ransom, that’s out of site ransom.

Subject for another day, but let’s see,…, the USA, all 50 of them and maybe D.C. at some future date. Yet at times in our contemporary history we hear noises about successions or 51st states. Okay, but. Actually how about dissolving some of those borders in country. Why not combine California-Oregon-Washington or call it WashForniaGon? Heck while creating new combined states e.g. Pacific-Heights-West lets throw in Hawaii. Will the bureaucratic red tape shrink by a factor of 4? :-) :-) :-) :-)
