Ask yourself, do you even need anti-virus software?

Maybe anti-virus software should be seen as bloatware of dubious value.

If you feel the need for an anti-virus package maybe invest in software that knows how to expunge other software packages completely and thouroughly, that can sometimes be amazing.

Addendum: the last 5 years of standard employment for me was on a help desk in a mid-sized business. I made a living telling people to reboot before I was shown the door, because, Mericka. :-)
